There are many ways to stay in touch with the OSGeo community.

OSGeo publishes a monthly newsletter. Many projects, local chapters and GeoForAll Labs have their own mailing lists or newsletters. There are various ways to chat and engage with the community via public web services.

OSGeo mailing lists provide communication within the OSGeo members.

You can use your OSGeo userid to create new:

  • Foundation news – blog posts
  • Events / History – gatherings big an small from international conferences to local coffee or geobeers gatherings
  • Resources – share white papers, manuals, presentations, videos and research papers
  • Community news / Planet OSGeo – blog aggregator from individuals, organizations and project teams in our community

Using the Discuss List

  • Only subscribers can send email to the discuss@osgeo.org
  • Email questions, ideas and suggestions for discussion.
  • Everyone can review the archive.
  • Please avoid emailing others in the list directly, so that everyone can benefit from the discussion.
  • Before you post a question to the list, please search the mailing list archive to see if answers can be found. Newcomers may find this to be a valuable resource, and should feel free to ask questions if they cannot find satisfactory answers in the archive.

Chat

The IRC #osgeo channel on irc.libera.chat is a very simple and lightweight chat where the OSGeo Community hang out and conduct the occasional interactive meeting. With IRC you can informally get to know people and what they’re working on.

The OSGeo IRC channels have been bridged to:

  • [matrix]: #osgeo:matrix.org
  • Slack: osgeo.slack.com (proprietary platform, discouraged)
