Biography
Over the last few years, I have studied a menagerie of subjects. To some, film, political science, geography, meteorology, climatology, and social issues create an incoherent combination. To me, each subject is a piece to the puzzle of an overarching theme: daily life.
After graduating from high school at the age of 17, I studied at York Technical College for a year. This allowed me to satisfy core course requirements without paying anything out-of-pocket. At first, business administration seemed like a decent path; however, the election of Donald Trump acted as a push for me to consider a public-facing, quality of life-improving career away from the business sector.
In August 2017, I started my academic path at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Initially, my major was geography. Much like other students, jealousy of other majors having interesting classes caused me to transition to a political science/film and media studies double major. That decision turned out to be incredibly unfulfilling, so I ventured back to geography with a minor in anthropology. During the 2018-2019 academic year, my courses included meteorology, tropical climatology, African-American cultures and social history, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and coastal zone management-related topics. This allowed me to connect my interests beyond a personal, informal level.
During the 2019-2020 academic year, I am scheduled to take classes related to globalization and LGBTQ+ health and social issues. In addition, my senior research project will take place, as well as an internship during early 2020.
After graduation, I hope to find a position that allows me to assist racial, ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities with social needs.
