Torsten started his journey into the world of FOSS in the late 90s when he made the first implementation of the OGC Simple Feature Specification using the Java programming language for the University of Bonn (Germany). Torsten joined the deegree team later, which is an OSGeo project since 2010. He is project chair and member of the technical management committee (TMC) since 2012. He is a familiar face and speaker at conferences like FOSS4G and FOSSGIS. He also promoted OSGeo software at fairs and participated at OSGeo code sprints and hack events.
Torsten is also active in the German speaking OSGeo local chapter FOSSGIS e.V. Currently he works at lat/lon GmbH, Bonn, Germany.
